This HP ScanJet 3970 basic scanner driver package will work under Windows Vista only (a separate driver is available for other versions of Windows - see the driver section of this site). It installs version 1.1 of the HP WIA driver for Vista, but this comes at a price. According to HP: 'This is the minimum driver required for basic WIA functionality. This driver enables scanning with the Windows Photo Gallery on Windows Vista.' In other words, most of the features that you had from your installation CD will no longer work under Vista. You will now need to use the Windows Photo Gallery function to scan files (some third party programs can also use the WIA driver).
