Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (also called IE6 SP1) is the latest
browser from Microsoft that includes Outlook Express 6, Net Meeting
and many new privacy and customisation features. Note that IE6 SP1 will
not run on Windows 95.
IE6
can be installed as an upgrade to existing versions of Internet Explorer
(including IE6), or on computers with no previous Internet Explorer
installation. It features a 'new look' and new capabilities, including
enhanced Explorer bars, integrated instant messaging, media playback
and automatic picture resizing. Internet Explorer 6 can also help to
maintain the privacy of personal information on the Web and provide
fault collection that can identify problems that need to be fixed in
future updates to the Windows Internet technologies. It is supposed
to help you determine the cause of a browser crash rather than the rather
cryptic messages that appear (don't hold your breath!).
IE6
is delivered by 'active' setup. Download the small file (ie6setup.exe),
then double-click on it to select which components you want from the
IE6 package - it will then start to download these components. You can
run this file at anytime - so if your current connection is slow or
the server is a little overloaded, it may be worthwhile running the
program at a later date. If you want to download IE6, the best procedure
is to download the setup file, backup your system and data files and
then run the setup to begin the full download and setup.
